The Duration of Study
The duration of studying engineering in Egypt is typically: 5 academic years Divided as follows:
- Preparatory year (first year): This is a general year in which students study basic subjects in mathematics, physics, and engineering drawing before specializing.
- Four specialized years (second through fifth): In these years, students choose a specific specialization, such as
(Civil Engineering – Architectural Engineering) – Electrical Engineering (Power – Communications) – Mechanical Engineering – Computer Engineering – Electronics Engineering – Mining and Petroleum Engineering, Biomedical Engineering
In the fifth year, there is a mandatory graduation project in the specialization, which is considered part of the final assessment. That is for the pre-graduate programs.
The postgraduate duration typically takes at least two years (one preparatory year + one dissertation year). It may extend to three years or more in some cases, depending on the research circumstances.
